WEATHER UPDATE: In consultation with area emergency management officials, all Lafourche Parish public schools and offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, and all school-related activities are canceled. Decisions regarding Tuesday will be made Monday, and we will provide an update to our families regarding the safe reopening of schools once we are able to assess our campuses for any weather-related impacts. We will also continue working cooperatively with local authorities to ensure conditions are safe for students and staff to return. We will communicate updates on school operations through employee email, SchoolStatus, social media and our website, mylpsd.com. The Lafourche Parish School District is closely monitoring the weather forecast for early next week. As the forecast continues to evolve, we are actively working with local authorities to assess the situation and determine if any changes to school operations are necessary. We understand the importance of keeping you informed and prepared, and we want to assure you that the safety of our students and staff and their families is our top priority.

As of now, we do not anticipate any changes to school-related activities scheduled for the weekend. A decision regarding Monday will be made no later than 5 p.m. Saturday. Once a decision is made, we will inform our families through employee email, website updates, Facebook and OnCourse Connect, and direct notifications will be sent through SchoolStatus texts, emails, and phone calls. Please continue to monitor these outlets for official updates. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we navigate these potential weather challenges together.

National Principals Month: Aimee Angle

To celebrate National Principals Month, we’re sharing some fun facts about our amazing school administrators. Today you’ll learn more about Mrs. Aimee Angle, principal of Lockport Lower Elementary School.

Here’s the inside scoop on Mrs. Angle:

🐝 She’s been a principal for four years.
🐝 The most rewarding part of being a principal is building relationships with the staff, students, and families. “We have an amazing school family that builds each other up and supports each other. I am extremely blessed to be a part of this school community. Being a principal of a Prek-2nd grade school is priceless because the hugs are endless!”
🐝 Her favorite subject in school was ELA because she enjoyed reading novels and learning about grammar.
🐝 Her favorite school lunch is sausage and potato stew.
🐝 One item on her bucket list is a month-long road trip with her family to visit the western states of the US. “I've always wanted my boys to experience the beautiful scenery like I did as a child traveling through New Mexico and Colorado”
🐝 Outside of work she enjoys traveling and cruising with family and friends, cheering on LSU, and attending her boys' football, baseball, and basketball games.
🐝 Fun Fact: Her grandfather on her dad's side left an amazing legacy. He was on the LSU football coaching staff in 1958 when they won the National Championship. He was also the baseball coach and athletic director at Nicholls State University. The baseball stadium is named after him. He was inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.
