Left Profile Panel: Headshot: Smiling photo of Jamie Granier framed in a yellow circle logo. Name & Title: Jamie Granier, Assistant Principal, Lockport Lower Elementary. Hometown: Thibodaux Education: Thibodaux High School, Nicholls State University Years with LPSD: 13 District Logo: Lafourche Parish Public Schools — Developing Lifelong Learners Right Q&A Section: What are your interests/hobbies? "Some of my favorite hobbies are spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy reading and shopping! However, right now most of my hobbies involve watching my two boys play football and baseball!" What is a fun or unusual fact about you that most people don’t know? "A fact that continuously surprises people is that my husband and I are both named Jamie." What inspired you to choose a career in education? "I come from a family of teachers! My dad was an educator for 40 years, and my mom for 33. My uncle also worked in the school system, and my cousin is still teaching today." What is the most rewarding part of your job? "The most rewarding part of my job is witnessing firsthand the profound impact our phenomenal staff has on some of the district's smallest learners. Seeing a child learn to write their letters and then read their very first words is absolutely amazing! Everyone on our campus gives their all every single day as we collaborate to help our students learn and grow. Lockport Lower is truly a special place!" What advice would you give to someone just starting a career with LPSD? "If I could give one piece of advice to someone just starting out with LPSD, it would be to ask questions. Teaching is beautifully rewarding but undeniably tough, and you aren't meant to do it in isolation. Across our parish, we are surrounded by an exceptional community of experienced professionals ready to support one another. Remember that you are never alone! There is a whole team of people ready to lift you up and help you out." What is your professional motto? "Growth is Growth, No Matter How Small!"
